SOBER Program
#2 Government Square Room 436
Parkersburg, WV 26101SOBER Program announced Brandon Wilson as winner of design contest.
The SOBER Program of Wood County is pleased to announce that Brandon Wilson is the winner of the SOBER Program 6th annual billboard design contest. Wilson, an 8th grader at Jackson Middle School designed the billboard as a part of Kay Mason’s Art Class. Brandon is the son of Scott and Brenda Wilson of Vienna.
The students were asked to design a billboard with a anti-underage drinking message and artwork. His design had a very strong message to his peers, “A Group Isn’t the Only Thing You’ll Fit In: Prevent Underage Drinking.” His artwork includes an image of a funeral scene of a young person that was killed by underage drinking.
Wilson says “I thought of something that people would really listen to. I wanted people to look at my message and go “wow.”
As winner of the contest, Wilson will receive a $100 gift card to the Grand Central Mall. When asked what he plans to spend it on, Wilson replied, “I’m going to buy me some Air Jordans baby!”
Wilson’s billboard will be up in 2009 on 7th street by Kroger.
